Iguazu
The Iguazu Falls (means « Big Water » in Guarani) border Argentina and Brazil. The Falls are part of Iguaçu National Park in Brazil and Iguazu National Park in Argentina. The Rio Iguaçu flows West from Curitiba in Brazil and ends in the Parana River on the « Triple Frontier » between Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay. The Falls are 2.7 km wide and their height reaches 82 meters. The average water flow is estimated at 1.800 m³/s. The falls are formed by up to 270 individual falls. Most of the water is drained into the « Devil’s Throat », which is 82 m in height, 150 m wide and 700 m long.
Pictures of the Falls were taken in January 2010 and November 2017. The brown colour of the water in 2017 indicates a very high flow due to heavy rains in the weeks before. However, there are years when the Falls lack water and almost fall dry i.e. 122 m³/s.
